About Us

Kent Street Community Kindergarten provides a nurturing, engaging and stimulating education and care environment where our dedicated teaching professionals understand the importance of the early years in assisting children to develop and have knowledge and experience to ensure they reach their full potential.

Kent Street Community Kindergarten is a single unit kindergarten operated by a volunteer management committee elected from the parent group. The centre was established in 1963 by a group of parents. Each year, since its inception, it has been successfully managed and improved on by the committee.

We are a C&K affiliated centre. C&K is the largest and longest established provider of early childhood services in Queensland. This affiliation provides the Kindergarten with invaluable support and advice to ensure we maintain the highest possible standards.

Our Groups

Your children will enjoy a consistent group structure at Kent Street.  Each group has an experienced Teacher and educator guiding a maximum of 22 children. This structure allows for meaningful relationships to form with teachers, educators, peers and families over the year.

Each group will receive 600 Kindergarten hours per year - the difference is that one group receives those hours over five shorter days per fortnight while the other group receives those hours over four longer days per fortnight.

We hope that these two different group times will give families a choice of hours that will fit in with their routine.

The Lilly Pilly Group attend every Monday and Tuesday and alternate Wednesdays,

from 8.40am to 2.45pm.

The Gumtree Group attend every Thursday and Friday

from 8am to 3.35pm.
